Library Resources

Below is a list of online resources and tools for your convenience.  Not finding what your looking for?  Contact us and we can add it!

Destiny (Library Catalog)

Find your next favorite book...

The library catalog is a database of our union catalog.  What this means is students can log in to look up, reserve, or request a book.  When logged in students can even request a book from another school in our district since we all share one big catalog.

Free eBooks - Overdrive, TumbleBooks, and Capstone

Checkout our digital library.  We have thousands of ebooks available through multiple sources.

Overdrive is our district eBook library.  All Hays CISD students have a username and password to checkout thousands of books digitally.

Tumblebooks is a district subscription with access to hundreds of audio books for young kids.

Capstone ebooks (36 titles) are available through a grant the Elm Grove library recieved this year and are available through direct links in our library catalog.

Gales Research Databases

(Kids Infobits, Student Resources in Context, National Geographic Kids)

Research databases are a safe, reliable, and trustworthy place for kids to find information about any educational topic they might be interested in learning more about.  We teach kids to use these over Google or Wikipededia because research databases offer articles written by experts and pictures that are open source and free to use for educational purposes.  Also, when it comes time for science fair projects it give you easy tools that help you quickly cite your sources correctly.

Ms. Ratliff's Library Basics

Karan Ratliff, our amazing library technician, created a site to help out parents and students with commonly asked questions like...

How many books can I have?

What do I do if I lose / damage a book?
What is AR?

How do I know which book comes next in a series?

What reading level is my book?

AR bookfind is a tool that helps you to identify what "Accelerated Reader" level a book is, how many points it's worth, and the quiz number to access the reading quiz quickly.

Accelerated Reader

AR is a reading incentive system we use to track reading goals and help make students more self aware readers.
